As an herbicide applicator your duties will be to control vegetation on primarily oil and gas sites. You will oversee mixing herbicides to appropriate rates, applicating them on bare ground sites to reduce the weed infestations on lease locations. Attention to detail is a key aspect of this job. You will be educated on your weed ID so that we can be certain we are applying the correct herbicides on the right weeds. This service is a necessity for oil and gas companies to do and is regulated by the government to assure that companies are upholding their highest standards in environmental housekeeping. This job requires organized individuals due to the volumes of sites you will visit every day. Paperwork as well as mapping is a large part of your daily activities. This service involves working most weekends due to weather events causing days off early in the season. The applicant will have to be willing and enjoy the outdoors as this job is entirely outside and in a truck. The applicant primarily will be working alone and must be comfortable doing so. The Applicant must be willing to relocate to Drumheller Alberta or be within driving distance.

You will be introduced to a team of Vegetation control professionals and placed on a 1-2 person crew operating commercial trucks. We take performance and efficiency seriously; you will have goals to hit with your team and we will help you develop your skills to crush them. You’ll be expected to contribute to your team with a positive attitude, the drive to push through tough days, and a focus on continually improving your skillset.
You will report to an experienced crew leader, who is backed by a young and driven management team who work very hard to build the best company to work for in our industry. Expect to put in a good amount of effort, but also to be supported and accommodated by the rest of the team. We hire for fit first, meaning your skillset and experience is great, but we want to invest our time in people that think and act same way we do, and contribute to our work environment in a positive way. This is an introductory role to vegetation management and could lead to a rewarding career in the green industry.
What about the winter? Vegetation management is seasonal and does typically come to a close at the end of August. Therefore, we like to hire students that are returning to school. We can potentially offer snow removal work in Calgary if you are interested on staying on after the summer.

- Arriving awake, aware, and ready for to work. Not ready to catch up on sleep in the passenger seat.
- Preparing your crews truck and equipment for the day/week, and gaining an understanding from your crew leader of the work today/this week.
- Contributing each day to complete high quality work.
- Contributing to our work environment in a positive way, and actively working to improve.
- Operating equipment safely, and ensuring maintenance is kept up.
- Working on weekends ( if it isn’t raining or windy, plan to be working).
Applicants must have/be:
- *Comfortable with long hours(10+hrs/day) outdoors and unpredictable schedules. 7 days/wk availability.
- *A genuine, trustworthy person that will contribute to our work environment in a positive way. Ask yourself: “Have I had quite a few issues working with others in the past? Would I say it was the other parties fault each time?” If yes, please do not apply.
- Driven to grow and learn within the industry and our company.
- Experience in our industry or any outdoor trade is an asset.
- Have certifications that are not expired: H2S, First Aid (level C). These can be provided for the right person.
- 18 + years Old & Valid Driver’s License and provide a driver abstract if offered employment.
- Have proof of Covid Vaccination. (clients require this to work for them)
- Herbicide Applicators License (industrial)
- Experience with herbicides
- Experience applicating herbicides
- Oil and Gas experience
Compensation:
- $20+ per hour base wage
- Development opportunities – great internal training, and outside training courses and certifications offered and paid by KenCo.
